Investigating the relationship between personality, emotional awareness and intimate relationship behaviour

 

You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Please ask me if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information. Take time to decide whether or not you wish to take part.

 

What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to discover if personality has a link to emotional awareness and relationship behaviour. 

 

Why have I been chosen?

You have been chosen to take part in this study because you are part of the general population.

 

Do I have to take part?

It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you do decide to take part you will be given this information sheet to keep and be asked to sign a consent form. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time when answering the questionnaires by closing the survey window and after reading the debriefing form by checking the box without giving a reason.

 

What will happen to me if I take part?

 

Participants will be asked to answer a few online questionnaires which relate to personality, emotional awareness and relationship behaviour. The overall survey should take around 20 minutes to complete.

 

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There are no risks to participants who take part in this study.

 

What are the possible benefits of taking part?

There are no direct benefits to participants who take part in this study.

 

 

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential?

All information collected from you will be stored, analysed and reported in compliance with the Data Protection Act (1998).

 

What will happen to the results of the research study?

Results from this study will be used to provide data for an honours undergraduate dissertation.
